Welcome to City Dachshund!

The City Dachshund is for urban dachshund owners. It’s for those who attempt training and playtime in a 700-square-foot apartment, and those who have genuinely Googled, “can a dachshund take the subway.” We’re based in New York City, where Stuart, our 6-year-old long-haired dachshund has strong opinions about skateboards, other dogs (huskies, he’s determined, are mortal enemies), and the unseen neighbors who immediately elicit a piercing bark should they dare to open their door or pass nearby our apartment.
Why City Dachshund exists
Dachshunds are anything but generic, and city life is not generic dog pawrenthood. Navigating a big city with a little dog comes with a specific set of challenges: the very real risk of IVDD, choosing the ideal harness when your dog is leash-reactive on a crowded sidewalk, and what to do with a high-energy 10-pound scent hound in a small space.
